About Rose
A native of Washington state, Rose has always been a system thinker, interested in anthropology, behaviors of groups, and seeking ways to improve or streamline processes.
Rose enjoyed the mission-driven environment of Pluralsight, where she worked for 5 years alongside Product Teams under Nate Walkingshaw, author of Directed Discovery, leading Documentation and Support teams.
Eager to learn more about Lean methodology, she moved to a local wire & cable manufacturer as a Continuous Improvement manager, earning the University of Kentucky certification in True Lean, and partnering with the Ogden Plant Manager, Production Manager, and Shop Floor team to reduce scrap, increase uptime, and improve data practices -- leading to a role as part Product Manager/UX Designer, part Program Manager, for the in-house software application development for the entire manufacturing enterprise.
Hobbies include:
Botany, embroidery, hiking the trails of beautiful Northern Utah, hip-hop dance, and photography.

My approach to UX
I blend my Lean Manufacturing training & experience with Agile software development team processes and user experience interviewing & analysis, with modern software best practices. I'm empathetic and curious about users' behavior and motivation, from a holistic point of view.

Problem Definition
- Methodical: Quantify the gap & define the impact, using 8-Step Problem Solving
- Whole-Picture: I strive to include dev scope estimates, license costs, and impact of solving the problem to the bottom-line and business metrics, to make sure we're solving the most impactful problems.

Respect for Humanity
- Prioritize user interviews from a range of affected roles: I've traveled across the US to interview shop floor operators in their environment, taking in the noise, heat, and competing alerts and requirements to understand their point of view.
- The humans interacting with our tools day in and day out, are the SMEs of their environment -- I thrive when hearing their input.

Data-driven
- Measure impact as-is
- Evaluate countermeasures, pick the best fit, and measure impact of implementation

Support & Motivation
- Bringing stakeholders & users together to facilitate problem-solving in a safe, supportive environment
- Seeing a problem through to sustained improvements - not only the quick wins
